Now one of the most successful acts of all time will have its turn in Hollywood, when Frankie Valli and the story of the Four Seasons makes its way to theaters with the adaptation of the hit Broadway musical, Jersey Boys.

While sitting down with Dan Taylor in the CBS-FM studio in New York, Valli admits the movie will be a bit different from the stage production because of the type of experience the audience is exposed to with the different mediums.

“The play is a live experience and movies are through a microscope,” he said. “They are two totally different journeys.”

However, the change from stage to screen won’t alter the fact that this film is biographical, which means honesty is key to the story.

“When you’re doing a show about your life it should be the truth,” Valli said. “Or as close as you possibly can get without hurting anybody.”

A major question up in the air is who will play the role of Frankie Valli. Will it be a big Hollywood name or an unknown looking for their big break?

“I don’t have the slightest idea,” admits the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer. “I’m glad it’s not me that has to make that decision. The director and the casting people… Thank God for them!”

Jersey Boys will begin production at the start of 2013 and is slated to hit theaters at the end of that year. The talents of John Logan have been assigned to screenwriting duties for the film. His credits include acclaimed films such as Gladiator (2000), The Aviator (2004) and Hugo (2011), all of which have been nominated for multiple screenwriting awards.

During the Beach Boys’ live broadcast, fans will also have the opportunity to order their new album. According to the QVC website, all orders will be shipped out on June 5 regardless of when the order is placed. However, if one does order tonight during the special, the album will be paired with a bonus CD including 11 tracks of the Beach Boys’ greatest hits.

Along with the album, there is also a new book being published about the Beach Boys on June 1, Fifty Sides of The Beach Boys: The Songs that Tell Their Story by Mark Dillon. According to the description, it says this book tells the story behind 50 of the band’s greatest songs from the perspective of group members, collaborators, fellow musicians, and notable fans. There are chapters that feature certain songs, such as “Kokomo,” “Barbra Ann” and “Fun Fun Fun.” It is filled with new interviews with music legends such as Brian Wilson, Mike Love, Alan Jardine, Alice Cooper and Al Kooper, and commentary from a younger generation such as Matthew Sweet, Carnie Wilson, Daniel Lanois, Cameron Crowe, and Zooey Deschanel.

A rare photo of the Beatles walking in the opposite direction from the original album cover on Abbey Road may fetch around $16,000 (£10,000) at an auction on May 22. It is one of only six pictures taken during the shoot by photographer Iain McMillan.

The photo has been in the hands of a private collector who has decided to put it up for auction at the London-based Bloomsbury auctions. Sarah Wheeler, a music specialist from Bloomsbury told The Sun about the picture, saying, “Macmillan had 10 minutes to do the shoot and he took six photographs of the Beatles walking backwards and forwards across the zebra crossing.

“He was standing up a ladder to take the pictures. In the one we have Paul McCartney is wearing sandals and in the image that was finally used he is barefoot.

“The photo has been called an icon of the 1960s. I think the reason it became so popular is its simplicity. It’s a very simple, stylized shot and is a shot people can relate to.

“The Beatles walked forwards and backwards three times and by pure chance a VW Beetle is in the background. That car is now in a museum.”

The image is also signed by Macmillian, who died in 2006. The 18×18 print is one of only 25 made from the original frame.

However, Cooper’s cameo in Dark Shadows is far from his first. Let’s revisit Cooper’s past appearances on the silver screen throughout the last 40+ years.

1970: Several months before Cooper got his first taste of musical success with the single “I’m Eighteen,” the Alice Cooper group appeared in the drama Diary of a Mad Housewife, performing as themselves at a loft part in the film.

1978: If you were a music star in the late 1970s, chances are you were tapped for a cameo in the musical film interpretation of The Beatles’ Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band. Peter Frampton and the Bee Gees led the brigade, but Alice Cooper made an appearance playing a villain named the Sun King, after the Abbey Road song of the same name.

On the set of musical comedy Sextette, Cooper wasn’t the only rock’n'roller. Ringo Starr had a supporting role in the Mae West/Tony Curtis film, while Cooper made a brief appearance as a waiter.

1980: The largely forgotten rock’n'roll film Roadie gave Meat Loaf his first starring role, but a music movie wouldn’t be complete without a few more rock stars thrown in. Alice Cooper had a handful of scenes playing himself – some of which involve his fondness for snakes – in Roadie, as did Blondie, Roy Orbison and Hank Williams Jr. Cooper also performed a handful of songs in the film’s concert scenes, including “Pain.”

1984: In Spanish horror flick Monster Dog, Cooper plays the lead role of rock star Vince Raven, who leads his entourage to his murder-struck hometown for a video shoot.

1987: In John Carpenter’s horror flick Prince of Darkness, Cooper plays “Street Schizo,” a murder whose weapon of choice is a bicycle.

1991: Though Cooper goes uncredited, he played Freddy Krueger’s father in the 1991 slasher film Freddy’s Dead: The Final Nightmare, the sixth film in the Freddy Krueger series.

1992: Among his cameos, Cooper’s appearance in the original Wayne’s World film is likely his most memorable. After Wayne and Garth attend Alice’s concert – a scene in which he performs 1992 single “Feed My Frankenstein” – they go backstage to chat with Cooper. He shocks them not with any crazy stunts, but rather, by presenting a history lesson on the city of Milwaukee.

2001: Seth Green horror flick The Attic Expeditions got an authentic touch via Cooper, who took his straight jacket costume to the next level in the role of mental patient Samuel Leventhal.

2009: In the 2009 vampire-themed dark comedy Suck, Cooper joined a slew of rock stars including Iggy Pop, Henry Rollins, Alex Lifeson of Rush and more in guest appearances. Cooper played a vampire bartender in the Canadian film.

2010: Cooper makes an appearances as himself in the 2010′s Horrorween, a horror film with a sci-fi slant that also included cameos from William Shatner and Flavor Flav.

2012: Though Cooper’s appearance in Dark Shadows was certainly not his first cameo, it may be his most elaborate. At the film’s premiere, Cooper performed “No More Mr. Nice Guy” with its star Depp and Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler and Joe Perry (who also appeared with Cooper in Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band). And Cooper sits at the centerpiece of a soundtrack stacked with ’70s music stars: The Moody Blues (with “Nights in White Satin”), Black Sabbath (with “Paranoid”), The Carpenters (with “Top of the World”), Barry White (with “You’re the First, the Last, My Everything”) and more. The soundtrack drops this Tuesday (May 22).

Eastern Michigan University students and even some alumni, were victims of this horendous mistake. Say adios to that trophy wife and mansion with a 5-car garage!

Like most schools Eastern Michigan University has its share of slackers and usually sends an email that reads something like this:

“As a result of your Winter 2012 academic performance, you have been dismissed from Eastern Michigan University, and you will not be eligible to resume coursework at EMU until Summer 2013 at the earliest.”

This same email went out to all 23,000 members of the student body and even some students that graduated the previous semester.

The email was originally intended for only 100 students but due to some glitch in the matrix every student at EMU got the email.

EMU president Susan Martin said this about the email, “I deeply apologize for the incorrect email many of our students received this evening indicating they were dismissed from the University. This message was a terrible mistake and I regret the undue alarm and concern it caused.”

We guess that the apology is okay but how are you going to help your students explain this to over 23,000 angry parents.

Spotlight Release of the Week: Back in June of 1983, Diana Ross entertained nearly a million New Yorkers with one of the biggest free concerts – if not the biggest – concert held in Central Park. One problem: The first attempt at the concert got rained out halfway through, thanks to a nasty electrical storm. Ross stood her ground and returned to play the full show in full, marking a huge a moment in her career. The concert was originally broadcast on TV and these days you could spend hours watching clips on it on YouTube, but this week, Diana Ross – Live in Central Park concert is available on DVD. The show is a parade of colorful costume after colorful costume, and of course, hits – and not just Ross’s own, as she covers her dear friend and frequent collaborator Michael Jackson. Ross teases the crowd: “Do you know ‘Beat It’?”

Also out this week are releases from veteran artists at opposite ends of the music world. First, Carlos Santana lets his distinct guitar stylings – heavy with jazz and Latin music influences – shine on his 36th album, an instrumental collection titled Shape Shifter. Santana vocalists Andy Vargas and Tony Lindsay lend their vocals on one song, “Eres La Luz.”

Willie Nelson pulls a Johnny Cash and dedicates his grizzled, country vocals to a covers album, titled Heroes. It includes Nelson’s take on modern songs like Coldplay’s “The Scientist” (which is, without a doubt, the album’s highlight) and Pearl Jam’s “Just Breathe.” But the real head-scratcher here is “Roll Me Up,” Willie’s collaboration with Kris Kristofferson, country outlaw Jamey Johnson, and fellow famed marijuana enthusiast, rapper Snoop Dogg.

And finally, for those in search of a protest song for the 21st century, there’s the Michael Moore-approved Occupy This Album four-disc compilation (tagline: 99 songs for the 99 percent!), in celebration of the Occupy Wall Street political movement. A mix of modern indie rockers and classic liberal voices like Jackson Browne, Joan Baez, David Crosby, Graham Nash, Yoko Ono, Tom Morello and more comprise the album. And ties to liberal documentary director Michael Moore move beyond just the ideological: He covers Bob Dylan’s “The Times They Are A-Changin’” on the album. Listen below.

Drummer Bill Ward, who, in February, threatened to back out of the Sabbath reunion unless he was presented with a “signable contract” from management, has done just that.

In a new letter published today (May 15) on his official website, Ward says he, regrettably, will not participate in Black Sabbath’s upcoming shows. This decision was reached following an incident involving the band’s hometown concert in Birmingham, England on May 19 – a gig Ward found about through an Internet ad on April 30, not his bandmates. Ward explains that his lawyer contacted Sabbath’s representative last week only to be told that he could “come to the UK, play for free and see how the first show goes.”

It wasn’t the lack of pay that bothered Ward, it was the no-strings-attached mentality of “see how it goes.” This is when Ward decided to step away from the reunion, keeping true to his word about requiring a signable contract – something he says he’s been waiting on for a year.

It’s true that Ward has sparred with Black Sabbath management over contracts previously. For an Ozzfest 2004 tour, Sharon Osbourne originally announced that Mike Bordin, Faith No More drummer and the former drummer in Ozzy’s backing band, would replace Ward due to contract disputes – yet Ward somehow ended up on the tour. In 1997, however, Bill Ward reportedly wasn’t invited to participate when Ozzy reunited with Black Sabbath for his Ozzfest tour, replaced by Bordin.

Additionally, Ward says he had been asked last month to play drums on just three songs during Black Sabbath’s set at U.K.’s Download Festival on June 10. This was an offer he turned down, due to the uncomfortable prospect of watching another drummer fulfill the duties he originally served. “I was not prepared to watch another drummer play a Sabbath set, while I was to play only three songs,” he said.

But Ward does not seem to draw any amount of pleasure from his decision, using his lengthy letter to sincerely apologize to fans and at one point, acknowledge that drummers don’t always get their due when it comes to licensing royalties.

“This statement is even more painstaking to write, as I was particularly excited to play alongside Tony Iommi after the recent treatments he underwent,” he wrote, acknowledging the Sabbath guitarist’s lymphoma diagnosis.

Ward continued: “I hold no malice or resentment towards the other band members. I love them; I’m tolerant of them; I’m frustrated with them, as they may be with me. My fight has never been with them. I’ll love them forever. In my opinion, nobody wins this time; the band doesn’t win; the fans for an original lineup don’t win.”

Ward did not specifically address Black Sabbath’s upcoming headlining appearance at Lollapalooza in August. While he will not perform at upcoming Black Sabbath shows, he said he “will remain with an open mind and a position of willingness to negotiate ‘signable’ terms with Sabbath’s representatives in the future.”

Hagar sold his Cabo Wabo tequila brand in 2007 for a cool $80 million, but has remained in control of his Cabo Wabo chain of cantinas. Having already conquered the tequila market, Hagar is turning his attention to rum.

In fact, he has just released Sammy’s Beach Bar Rum, which describes itself as a premium quality silver rum. The rum uses only pure cane sugar from Hawaii, which is regarded as the best cane growing location in the world. The rum is hand-distilled on location in Maui, giving it a flavor unique to other rums. “ If it explodes then we have a limit because it's how much cane Hawaii can produce. That's all because I wouldn't get cane from Jamaica because then it wouldn't taste like this.

To complement the release of his new rum, Hagar has also started his second chain of restaurants – Sammy’s Beach Bar & Grill. These restaurants were created to both promote the release of his rum and support Hagar’s philanthropic effort called The Hagar Family Foundation. This foundation was created by Hagar to help local community children’s charities. Proceeds from all five Sammy’s Beach Bar & Grill locations go to the foundation, which helps terminally ill children find treatment.
