Metallica is one of the most successful and famous metal bands of all time. But could they have been more successful and even famouser?
The answer is yep, they could have been both.
“ I love the Stone Roses. They're getting back together, right? That's cool man. I used to work out to some of their songs.” Hulk Hogan
According to some weird British website, Hulk Hogan almost joined an early incarnation of Metallica.
Hogan is indeed a seriously talented musician. He helped pioneer the Rap/Rock format years before Fred Durst blew out his vocal cords as lead screamer for Limp Bizkit. Check out his hit “Beach Patrol.“
Hogan recently told The Sun, ”I used to be a session musician before I was a wrestler. I played bass guitar. I was big pals with Lars Ulrich and he asked me if I wanted to play bass with Metallica in their early days but it didn’t work out.“
Although it would have been sweet if Metallica had Hulk Hogan as a bassist, it may have worked out best for us (and Jason Newsted) that he didn’t. After all, who else could have protected us from this Iranian terrorist in 1984?
